Biomasse Italia SpA came into being in 1997 and acts as a point of reference in the national framework of electrical energy from renewable sources (solid biomass). It shows full respect for the environment, and is aware of its industrial and technological role in the development of a national energy policy aimed at providing long-term sustainable energy.

Biomasse Italia SpA is among the top private companies in Calabria in the sector of electrical energy from renewable sources.

The plant at Strongoli uses the latest technology and as a result is classifiable as the largest and most modern plant in Europe.

The plant has functioned since 2003.

The current production plant, following repairs completed in 2012, has a total emission capacity equal to 45 MW on the national grid.

Most of its combustion comes from biomass made from wood chip from woodland and food processing residue.
